First Biome Results: Hot Springs & Permafrost

Our first two biome scans are complete, yielding 2,533 computational AMP candidates across hot springs and permafrost environments.

Hot Springs: 2,001 Candidates

We screened ~120,000 smORFs from thermophilic metagenomes and identified 2,001 predicted antimicrobial peptides. 501 reached Tier-1 lead status, and 1,431 are predicted non-hemolytic.

Permafrost: 532 Candidates

Arctic permafrost metagenomes yielded 532 candidates with 119 Tier-1 leads. Average AMP scores are comparable to hot springs (0.9418 vs 0.9444).

What's Next

Glacier, abyssal ocean, and deep-sea vent scans are currently running. A cross-biome comparison will follow.
